Laura Belle Downey Bartlett, Steilacoom resident, regional lawyer, speaker of fluent Chinook jargon. Came to Washington Territory on the 1853 wagon train, part of which was the first to cross the Cascades on the Naches trail while others in the same train continued west along the Columbia river to Portland.
