The following are photos from the collection of Queenie L. Hoff, regional teacher and Steilacoom resident in the early 1900s. Very few photos were marked with identificant of subjects. Several photos include identifiable local scenes and structures. Queenie was born on 14 Jun 1893 in Morton, North Dakota and died in Steilacoom in August 1981. Queenie was the daughter of John M and Eleathea S Hoff. In 1919 she was teaching school in Yelm with a monthly salary of $105. On June 30, 1920, she married George C. Wintersteen, also of Steilacoom. Few of the Hoff Collection photos have description, year, or notes.
Women of neighborhood group? Queenie Hoff is at extreme left in lower row. From Queenie's apparent age, photo was probably taken in Steilacoom.
